So I've always wanted to write a blog, but I used to get caught in the usual hang-ups. "What the hell am I going to write about? Who even cares about what I have to say?" Honestly I still can't answer those questions, but here we are. What does feel most appropriate here would be an introduction. I imagine writing something intriguing and elegant like Lady Whistledown from Bridgerton, but unfortunately for you all - you get what you pay for. And this is free, LOL, but I will do my best to not be completely corny and to find something worthwhile to say.
So what is Qommunity? Why are you here? Right now it's a dream. Although Qommunity appears to be very much a one-woman show, the goal is to have as many creatives from New Haven and its surrounding areas involved in making art together - in whatever form that takes. I have my own ideas about what kind of art we can make together, but it's not about me. It's about all of us. Qommunity aims to be a platform for us - queer, BIPOC creators who want to share what we create regardless of who's watching. Qommunity is just about that - community. And even more importantly, it's a way to strengthen local artists and offer support to them in the ways that we can. Honestly, we have a long way to go. But with some time and some help from our own community, I think it's possible.
One of the ways I am hoping to bring local artists and creatives together is through this blog - hopefully I'm not the only one contributing to it but we have to start somewhere. Qommunity is meant or anyone who wants to flex their creative chops - we really value accessibility and engagement on every level over here. So if you or anyone you know likes to write, whether it be professionally or for fun - come our way. We'd love to offer the space for them to do so.
Baby won't you come my wa-ay-ay-ay. *Fetty Wap v.*
